The Metropolitan Water Tunnel Program will oversee the construction of two new water supply tunnels in order to provide redundancy for MWRA's existing Metropolitan Tunnel System.
System Expansion
In an effort to expand our services, the System Expansion Program aims to study that will provide planning-level cost estimates and timelines for the expansion of both water and wastewater services.
Community Financial Assistance
MWRA's I/I Local Financial Assistance Program provides grants and interest-free loans to MWRA sewer communities to perform local infiltration and inflow "I/I" reduction and sewer rehabilitation.
Wastewater Covid-19 Tracking
In June 2020, MWRA started a collaborative effort with BioBot labs to begin wastewater testing in an effort to better understand and predict Covid-19 outbreaks. Both current and historical results are posted here.
Local Water System Assistance Program
MWRA’s LWSAP provides interest-free loans to member water communities to perform water system improvement projects to help maintain high water quality from MWRA's treatment plant through local pipelines to customers' taps.
Lead Loan Program (LLP)
MWRA’s Lead Loan Program (LLP) is an enhancement to the Local Water System Assistance Program (LWSAP) to provide up to $100 million in 10-year zero-interest loans to communities solely for efforts to fully replace lead service lines.
