MWRA is aided by a few Advisory Groups, covering areas of water and wastewater, in determining the most cost-effective manner of providing timely recommendations to the Board of Directors and MWRA staff on policy, project plans, program initiatives, and public concerns. These groups are:
MWRA Advisory Board
The MWRA Advisory Board, which elects three members of the Board of Directors, is made up of a representative from each customer community. By statute, the Advisory Board reviews and comments on all MWRA’s operating and capital budgets. The Advisory Board views itself as a “constructive critic” helping the Authority to better achieve its core mission.Water Supply Citizens Advisory Committee
The Water Supply Citizens Advisory Committee (also known as WSCAC) advises the MWRA and the Department of Conservation and Recreation(DCR) on water conservation and watershed protection strategies. WSCAC represents an unusual approach for engaging citizen participation in water resource policy decisions.Wastewater Advisory Committee
The MWRA Board of Directors created the Wastewater Advisory Commitee (also known as WAC) in 1990 to offer independent recommendations on wastewater policies and programs. WAC’s mission is to be an independent public forum for holistic discussion of wastewater issues.
