The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) will be commencing a water pipeline rehabilitation project starting on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 (or Monday, January 27, 2025, if inclement weather impacts the schedule). This project is located within the Authority’s easement at the end of South Street Court in the City of Medford, and will require excavation to retrofit a blow-off valve.
The project is expected to take approximately two to three weeks to complete. During work hours, which will be from 7:00AM to 3:00PM, crews will be on site and residents can expect typical construction noise. Additionally, one of the two pedestrian pathways will likely be impacted while construction is underway. Residents and visitors should use caution when in the area, and follow all signage located at the work site.
Importantly, the project will not impact access to residential buildings and homes and water service will not be impacted by this project. During non-work hours (nights and weekends), the excavated site will be covered by a steel plate. Furthermore, once completed the site will be restored to previous conditions.
