The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) will be repairing a leak at Meter 47 of the water distribution system. The specific location of the work is on Massachusetts Avenue between the Hibbert Street and Lancaster Road intersections near the Lexington/Arlington town line. The MWRA expects to mobilize to the site on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at approximately 7:00AM to begin preparing the repair project. Starting on Sunday, March 16, 2025, the repair work will commence, and take approximately three to four nights to complete, weather and other circumstances pending.
During work hours, which will be from 10:00PM to 6:00AM, crews will be on site to conduct the repair work. Residents can expect typical construction noise while the work is being conducted. Additionally, police details will be on site to assist motorists through the work zone.
Important to note, water service to the surrounding area will continue to be provided while the repair work is underway. Should discolored water occur, please run faucets until water returns to normal clarity (it can take up to approximately 10 minutes) before drinking or utilizing for dishes, laundry, or other needs. Furthermore, should any water pressure issues occur, they will be resolved automatically following the repair work.
