MWRA Conducting Maintenance Work on Western Ave in Lynn

MWRA Conducting Maintenance Work on Western Ave in Lynn

Small Portion of Roadway is Closed to Traffic

The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) is currently retrofitting an existing 12” blow-off valve on Western Avenue near the Summer Street intersection in the City of Lynn. In order to improve the work site, Western Avenue from Breed Street to Summer Street has been temporarily closed to traffic.

A detour, signage, and police details are on site to assist motorists around the work area. Work is expected to take approximately one to two weeks to complete; however, Western Avenue is anticipated to reopen to traffic later today. Additionally, road plates will be placed on the excavated site at the end of each workday to enable normal traffic use within the area.

Please note, while water service is not expected to be interrupted at this time, some users may experience slight pressure reductions. Pressure will return to normal once the maintenance work has been completed.
