Next week, beginning October 27th, MWRA will be reconfiguring water mains in the vicinity of the Chestnut Hill Reservoir in Brighton, in order to support a trial maintenance operation of the MWRA’s standby pumps on Beacon Street on the 28th and 29th. There will be no interruption of water service as a result of this operation; however, residents in northern Brookline as well as neighborhoods in Jamaica Plain, Roxbury, and central Boston may experience discolored water or slight differences in water pressure as a result of redirected flow. If water discoloration occurs, please run faucets until water returns to normal clarity (it can take up to approximately 10 minutes) before drinking or using for dishes, laundry, or other household needs.
MWRA tentatively expects to return to normal operations in the area by the end of the week. For any questions, please contact Troy Wall, MWRA Community Relations Liaison at Troy.Wall@MWRA.com or (617) 305-5762.
