MWRA, Cities of Cambridge and Somerville to Hold Public Meeting on Thursday, September 25th to Provide CSO Planning Update for the Charles River and Alewife Brook/Mystic River

Representatives from the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) and the Cities of Cambridge and Somerville will hold a joint public meeting on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, to provide a Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Planning Update for the Charles River and Alewife Brook / Mystic River.

Currently, the municipalities and the MWRA are working together to create plans for future sewer improvements that will reduce pollution within the waterbodies. During the joint public meeting, officials will share the latest results of a study on ways to reduce CSOs, and how these impact water quality in the rivers.
