MWRA, Cities of Cambridge and Somerville to Hold Public Meeting on Thursday, January 15th to Provide Update on the CSO Control Plan the Charles River and Alewife Brook/Mystic River

Representatives from the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) and the Cities of Cambridge and Somerville will hold a joint public meeting on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, to provide a Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Control Plan update for the Charles River and Alewife Brook / Mystic River waterbodies.

Currently, the municipalities and the MWRA are working together to create plans for future sewer improvements that will reduce pollution within the rivers. During the joint public meeting, officials will review the alternatives being considered, costs implications on ratepayers, and seek feedback from those in attendance.
