MWRA to Begin Night Work at Mystic Avenue / McGrath Highway Intersection in Somerville Starting on Monday, July 28th (Contract 7985)

Starting on Monday, July 28, 2025, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority’s (MWRA) contractor, RJV Construction, will commence night work on the Mystic Avenue onramp at the McGrath Highway intersection in the City of Somerville. The project is to construct a new pipe connection to the Somerville Marginal Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO).

During work hours, which will be from 9:00PM to 5:00AM, Monday through Friday, the onramp will not be available to motorists; however, a detour will be in place. Additionally, to assist motorists, police details and proper signage will be stationed at the work site. During nonwork hours (days and weekends), roadway plates will be placed at the work site to enable normal vehicular traffic use.

The project is expected to take approximately 14 weeks to complete. Furthermore, no utility services are expected to be impacted by the project. For more information, please contact Troy Wall, MWRA Community Relations Liaison, at Troy.Wall@mwra.com or (617) 305-5762.
