Meter Activation for Section 47 (Watertown)

UPDATE-

  • The MWRA has rescheduled the activation of the newly installed meter in the City of Watertown for this Thursday, July 23, 2026.
  • Please note, the activation of the meter may result temporarily in discolored water and/or a decrease in water pressure for those residing within the affected area of Watertown (see image of the potentially impacted area below).
    • If water discoloration occurs, please run faucets until water returns to normal clarity (it can take up to approximately 10 minutes) before drinking or using for dishes, laundry, or other household needs.

  • 7/15/26- At this time, the MWRA will not activate the newly installed meter in the City of Watertown on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
    • The Authority is currently coordinating a new date to activate the infrastructure.
    • Once the new date has been coordinated this project webpage will be updated.

Original (7/8/26) - On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA), in consultation with the City of Watertown, will be activating a newly installed meter. This work is to support the ongoing Intermediate High Pipeline Improvements CP 1 Project (MWRA Contract 7484).

Important to note, when this meter is activated it may result in discolored water and/or a decrease in water pressure for those residing within the affected area of Watertown (see image of the potentially impacted area below).
