MWRA Board of Directors

Dear Board Members,
In advance of my upcoming retirement, I respectfully request that the Board of Directors accept my resignation from my appointment as Executive Director of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, effective May 8, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as Executive Director of the Authority for the past 25 years. Together, we have accomplished a tremendous amount, creating a 21st century utility for the 3 million residents we serve. From the cleanup of Boston Harbor to landmark investments in our water system and the protection of the watershed; from fiscal stability to workforce development; from safety and security enhancements to preparing our facilities for climate change, I am incredibly proud of the progress we have made with the highest level of integrity and forethought. More than anything, I am truly grateful to the Authority’s employees who make these achievements possible. Of course, none of this would be possible without the support of our Board of Directors. The faith and trust that you have placed in me over the past 25 years, and your steady and dedicated oversight of the Authority’s affairs, has not only empowered but driven our success. Thank you for your leadership.
Sincerely,
Frederick A. Laskey
Executive Director
