About this Project

On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA), in consultation with the Cities of Waltham, Watertown, Newton, Lexington, and Weston, will be conducting a planned shutdown of the critical water distribution main WASM 3 (Weston Aqueduct Supply Main 3). The water main will be isolated to replace a corroded valve found on the water main and prevent the risk of a future uncontrolled failure at the valve. The isolation and valve replacement work will take approximately three days, and water services are not expected to be interrupted.

Important to note, while this pipeline is isolated, it may result in discolored water and/or a decrease in water pressure for those residing within the affected area (Waltham and the western portion of Watertown).

If water discoloration occurs, please run faucets until water returns to normal clarity (it can take up to approximately 10 minutes) before drinking or using for dishes, laundry, or other household needs.

For any questions, please contact Troy Wall, MWRA Community Relations at Troy.Wall@MWRA.com or (617) 305-5762
