MWRA's Metropolitan Water Tunnel Program

Community Updates for Waltham

MWRA's Metropolitan Water Tunnel Program (MWTP) will add redundancy for MWRA's existing Metropolitan Tunnel System. Redundancy will provide multiple routes for more reliable water delivery to Metro Boston, and allow our aging, existing water tunnel system to be rehabilitated without interrupting service. MWRA and its contractors will perform work in seven communities where the two MWTP tunnels are planned to be constructed: Boston, Brookline, Needham, Newton Waltham, Wellesley and Weston. This work may be seen along city streets and can have impacts on neighborhoods. MWRA’s Community Relations Department works with municipal staff and residents to ensure good communications during these projects.
