What Happens In The MWRA

"Kids today we're going to learn about the MWRA or the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority." Mrs. Junes told her kids while pointing at the board. "What is the MWRA?" Sharvil asked Mrs. Junes with a questioning look. "Well the MWRA provides wholesale drinking water and sewage services to certain municipalities and industrial users in the state". Mrs. Junes explained. "Wow without the MWRA we wouldn't get clean drinking water!” Merlina exclaims. "Yes that is correct Merlina." Mrs. Junes said. "You see the MWRA is very important." Mrs. Junes earned a few nods and agrees within the class, all murmuring about the topic they are learning about.

"But what happens behind the scenes there?" Shantonia questioned.
"Well the MWRA works very hard on fixing pipes and cleaning the water from germs so make sure not to waste water!” Mrs. Junes exclaims.
Just then there was a knock on the door of the classroom. Mrs. Junes nods signaling that the person could come in.

"Hey kids, I'm John and I work in the MWRA,” John tells the class. There were a few "wow” and “cool!" from the class. “One of my students asked what happens behind the scenes in the MWRA, can you tell us what happens there?" Mrs. Junes asked. "Yeah sure" John replied.

“So we (the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority) own and operate the collection, treatment, distribution, and storage facilities that supply drinking water to some forty municipalities in the metropolitan Boston area. This water system design is based upon the purchase and subsequent protection of on entire watershed. This design assures that the water remains as pristine as possible." John told everyone.

''Wow that's a lot." Merlina said.
"Yeah." Sharvil agreed.
"See class, the MWRA is very important and the MWRA workers work very hard." Mrs. June explains to her class. "Everyone say thank you to Mr. John for coming."

The class does exactly that. "Thank you for letting me come." John says.
John walks out of the class and Mrs. June said “I hope you had fun learning about the MWRA." The class nodded excitedly.
