"Don't Believe the Hype"

Advertisers created bottled water appeal,
convincing us of benefits never proven real.
The truth is bottled water is no better than tap water from our pipes,
Don't listen to the lies. Don't believe the hype!

Shelling out the big bucks, thinking that we're smart,
when all along the advertisers have been creating deceitful art.
Bottles with pictures of mountains, bears and bubbling springs,
these were meant to look at, so don't assume a thing.

We are supposed to be oblivious to the label purified,
Something that the pretty picture hopefully can hide.
The fact is that purified water is tap water packaged up quite nice,
benefits removed and quadrupled in price.

It's from the municipal water plant like the water from your tap,
with some filtration and a chemically processed wrap.
Why do we choose bottled water, instead of water from the tap?
We are not an underdeveloped country whose water is filled with crap. Our water is actually tasty and even quite refreshing,
and compared to cost of bottled the price is a real blessing.

Unlike bottled water, tap water has real benefits for you,
it has calcium, fluoride, magnesium and potassium, too.
These minerals help fight tooth decay, keeping you smile bright
they also help support our bones keeping us upright.

Its bacteria is regulated by the EPA,
if there is a problem you would be notified right away.
Not so for bottled water,
FDA does not govern with such a heavy hand,
in fact chemical contaminants have been found
on randomly tested brands.

Let us not forget the 1.5 million tons of plastic
used each and every year,
to bottle all that water, releasing toxins in our air.
The landfills are filling up, pollution is created,
I truly think that bottled water has become, well, overrated.

So forget the hype, help the earth and yourself,
put the bottled water back onto the shelf.

Grab a glass or a re-usable container will do,
and start drinking water from your tap, because its good for you.
