Massachusetts Water Resource Authority
Using Technology Every Day

Massachusetts Water Resources Authority uses a lot of technology to make sure we have some of the cleanest water in the world coming out of our sinks, tubs, and many other things. This particular piece of writing is about how technology is used at the John J. Carroll Water Treatment Plant.

One way the John J. Carroll Water Treatment Plant uses technology is by adding chloride or as they call it, sodium hypochlorite to the water to make it cleaner.

Another way, the John J. Carroll Water Treatment Plant uses technology is by adding fluoride or sodium hydrofluorosilicic acid to the water to help prevent cavities and tooth decay.

A third way that the John J. Carroll Water Treatment Plant uses technology is by adding carbon dioxide to the water to help adjust the pH to the final level.

The John J. Carroll Water Treatment Plant also recently started using UV light or ultraviolet light in April 2014 to help disinfect the water and damages the bacteria. This is a new and innovated way to use technology to clean our water with less chemicals.

All in all, these are a few ways the John J. Carroll Water Treatment Plant uses technology everyday to make sure we have safe and clean water.
