MWRA Overnight Work on the Section 56 Pipeline - Lynn

Starting on Sunday Night, July 23, 2023, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) will work during overnight hours to install a new isolation valve for the Section 56 pipeline. This work will occur at the intersection of Lynnway SB and Harding Street in the City of Lynn. Once the valve has been installed, it will allow for deactivation of a water main leak that is planned for future pipe replacement, without impacting water service to communities.

This work will last approximately two to three weeks to complete, weather and other conditions permitting. A police detail and project signage will be on site to assist vehicular traffic during construction activities, which will be restricted to overnight hours Sunday through Thursday from 11:00PM to 5:00AM. Additionally, during non-work hours (daytime and weekends) steel plates will be in place to allow normal traffic use. Lynnway SB at the intersection will be restricted to one lane for through-traffic during work hours, to enable proper and safe conditions for work crews as they excavate an access pit in the roadway and install the infrastructure. Lynnway NB and Harding Street traffic will not be impacted, and a detour will not be in place.
