MWRA Work May Cause Discolored Water in Parts of Melrose

work location

On Thursday, January 17, 2019, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority will isolate a section of water main as part of a valve replacement project (map, PDF.)

No service interruptions are expected during this time, but some Melrose residents may experience discolored water during the isolation. If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. Please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents may want to wait for the water to clear before using it.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact MWRA Community Relations Manager, Jeffrey McLaughlin at (617) 305-5762 or jeffrey.mclaughlin@mwra.com.
