MWRA Work on Commonwealth Avenue, Newton
May Affect Traffic

Location of work, Melrose

Starting on Tuesday, January 3, 2016, MWRA will dig four test pits in Newton to prepare for the installation of water connections at the Commwealth Avenue Pump Station. This work will take approximately one month to complete and may temporarily affect local traffic.

Two of the test pits will be located in the Commonwealth carriageway. The other two will be located in the grass between the carriageway and the main road. A map of the work locations is above.

Discolored water is not anticipated. If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. Please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used.

For more information, please contact Len Cawley at (617) 305-5757 or MWRA's 24-hour water line at (617) 305-5950.
