MWRA Pipeline Work in Saugus Will Impact Traffic,
May Cause Temporary Discolored Water or Pressure Changes

Location of work, Saugus

MWRA will be conducting necessary pipeline maintenance work on the banks of Birch Pond Reservoir on the Northeastern side of Walnut St. in Saugus. Work will likely begin excavation on Monday, December 5 and will be completed in approximately two weeks.

The street will not be excavated but the work will cause some traffic disruptions.

This work also requires the isolation of MWRA water main Section 70, which is currently scheduled to occur late in the week ending December 17. Discolored water or low pressure issues in Saugus are not anticipated as a result of this work, but they are possible. If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. Please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents may want to wait for the water to clear before using it.

We are coordinating with the Saugus DPW and conservation commission for this work.

If you have any questions, please contact Jeff McLaughlin at (617) 305-5762, or MWRA's 24-hour water line at (617) 305-5950.
