MWRA Valve Work May Cause Discolored Water in Parts of Revere

Beginning Tuesday, December 4, 2012, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority will be performing preventive maintenance on a water valve in areas of Revere around Shirley Avenue including Beach Street, Hichborn Street, Hillside Street and Winthrop Avenue to Garfield Street.  This work may cause lower water pressure and discolored water in this area. The work should be completed by Thursday, December 6th.

If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in the pipes. While it is safe for drinking, cooking and other uses, please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents should check water clarity before washing any white or lighter colored laundry during this period of work. Please call MWRA at 617-305-5950 if you have any questions.
