MWRA Work May Cause Discolored Water
in Some Areas of Somerville

On Wednesday, August 3, 2011, the MWRA will be performing work that may cause discolored water in Somerville along Broadway from Willow Street to Powderhouse Square; from Walnut Street east to the Boston line; and south of Somerville Avenue to the Cambridge line (see areas in blue on map). There will be no change in water pressure, but customers may see discolored water for up to three days.

If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in the pipes. While it is safe for drinking, cooking and other uses, please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents should check water clarity before washing any white or lighter colored laundry during this period of work.

Please call MWRA at 617-305-5950 if you have any questions.
