MWRA Pipeline Activation May Cause
Discolored Water in Parts of Milton

The MWRA is preparing to activate Section 107, a new 48-inch water main, on Wednesday, July 27. The activation will take place pending the completion of pipeline disinfection and water quality tests.

The pipeline work may cause temporary water discoloration in parts of Milton from Wednesday, July 27 through Friday, July 29. Potentially affected areas include neighborhoods east of Reedsdale Street and Central Avenue to the Expressway. Pressure losses are not expected.

Though the discolored water will be safe to drink, it could stain white and light-colored clothing. Residents should check to make sure that their water runs clear before doing laundry.

Section 107 is part of MWRA’s Southern Spine Distribution Mains Rehabilitation Project to increase water delivery capacity and provide much-needed system redundancy for Milton, Quincy and the Southeast corner of Boston.
