JACK WALSH APPOINTED TO MWRA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
New Board Member Represents Quincy

Governor Patrick swears in Jack Walsh (R) joined by his wife Ellen, and Andrew Pappastergion.

On Monday, July 13, 2009, John “Jack” Walsh was sworn in by Governor Deval Patrick as the newest member of the MWRA Board of Directors, at the recommendation of Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch.

Mr. Walsh replaces long-time Quincy representative Joseph A. MacRitchie who had served on the Board since 1989.

Mr. Walsh is a retired manufacturing engineer. A lifelong Quincy resident and environmental community activist, he has been Chairman of the Nut Island Citizens Advisory Committee since 1980, and also served on the Braintree-Weymouth, Neponset and Hingham Citizen Advisory Committees.

Along with Mr. Walsh, Andrew Pappastergion who represents the MWRA Advisory Board, was sworn in by the Governor. Mr. Pappastergion is the Director of the Water and Sewer Division for the Town of Brookline and has served on the MWRA board since 1997.

The MWRA Board of Directors is responsible for oversight of a drinking water and wastewater system that serves 2.5 million residents in 61 cities and towns.
