MEDIA ADVISORY: DAY BOULEVARD, SOUTH BOSTON

At approximately 1:00 PM today, a depression appeared on Day Boulevard in South Boston, directly over MWRA’s South Boston CSO Tunnel Project.

All four lanes were closed to traffic. (see update).

Tunnel mining is continuing and no injuries or damage to equipment have been reported.

Once the site is deemed stable and fully assessed for safety, MWRA will temporarily fill the depression and cover it with steel plates in order to open as many lanes as possible.
