Massachusetts Water Resources Authority
NEW CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE AND ALTERNATE TRAFFIC ROUTEUpper Neponset Valley Relief Sewer Project

Beginning August 28:

From Charles Park Road to the Star of David Nursing Home one travel lane in each direction will be open, on the VFW Parkway outbound, and local access will be maintained on the inbound VFW Parkway.  The work will take place from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and the traffic set-up will be removed each day.

Beginning at the Star of David Nursing Home to Corey Street, the traffic set-ups will be in place around the clock allowing three lanes to be open, but all the work, including blasting, will be done during the day (6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.).  Temporary changes to the VFW Parkway median will be made at Baker Street.

In the area from Baker Street to LaGrange Street all traffic lanes will be open and the work hours will be 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The final section of the work, LaGrange Street to Corey Street will be done with three travel lanes open on the VFW Parkway, and hours for the work will be 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Minor changes to the LaGrange Street, Lyall Street, and Corey Street intersections with VFW Parkway will be required in this section of work and the intersections work will be done at night between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

To remove some of the traffic from VFW Parkway during the work north of Spring Street/Bridge Street two alternate routes will be set-up and improvements will be made at some key intersections along these routes.  The Primary Alternate Route will begin at the Washington Street Rotary, travel east on Washington Street, turn north at West Roxbury Parkway and continue to VFW Parkway for the morning peak traffic and afternoon peak traffic.  The Secondary Alternate Route begins at the VFW Parkway/Spring Street intersection and will follow Spring Street to Center Street, and turn north on to West Roxbury Parkway to VFW Parkway.  The alternate routes will be signed in both the outbound and inbound directions.
