Community Advisory – August 28, 2011 - 5 PM

Storm is winding down, rain has essentially ended and sustained winds are expected to diminish to gusts.

All MWRA facilities are operational.  Power outages are still being experienced in several parts of the service area.  MWRA back-up generators are in operation. Reservoirs remain below spillway elevations. Extra staff will remain throughout the evening to monitor flows, facilities and elevations.

The MWRA Chelsea Emergency Operations Center will be staffed until 11 PM.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued updated slides regarding Hurricane Irene.  There have been no significant changes since yesterday.

Hurricane Irene has been downgraded to a tropical storm, however, NWS still anticipates significant rain, winds and inland and coastal flooding.

All MWRA facilities are operational and extra staff have been dispatched. MWRA reservoirs remain below spillway elevations.
