TRAC: Proposed Amendments to
Sewer Use Regulations - 2009
Massachusetts Water Resources Authority

MORE INFORMATION

PUBLIC NOTICE - PROPOSED AMENDMENTS PUBLIC HEARING AND COMMENT PERIOD: PDF, [also published in the Boston Globe, Worcester Telegram & Telegraph and the Massachussetts Register]

The MWRA is proposing changes to its Regulations.  Notice of these changes have been published in the Boston Globe, Worcester Telegram and Telegraph and Massachusetts Register.

A public hearing for providing oral comment will be held on July 9, 2009, 9:30 a.m. at the MWRA Chelsea facility, and written comments may be submitted at that time or at any other time until 5:00 pm on July 9, 2009 to Lauren Sloat, Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, 100 First Avenue, Charlestown Navy Yard, Boston, MA. 02129, or by e-mail to lauren.sloat@mwra.state.ma.us.

These changes must also be approved by EPA. It is anticipated that the final changes will be published in fall 2009 in the Massachusetts Register, at which time they will become the applicable law.

MWRA is proposing to increase its permit, monitoring, and other charges by approximately 4.5% in each of the next three fiscal years.
The MWRA has not increased these charges since 2005 despite increases in its sewer rates during this time period. Other proposed changes included in this package are required by the U.S. EPA, and address specific changes to its regulations that direct MWRA's pretreatment program implementation.
