About this Project:

MWRA has permitted a Boston College proposal to revitalize the Pine Tree Preserve, which runs adjacent to the Chestnut Hill Reservoir.

The Pine Tree Preserve has traditionally been an overgrown and underused woodland area. In coordination with the MWRA, Boston College will make substantial improvements to the Pine Tree Preserve to create a publicly accessible wooded area that will include pedestrian-friendly walkways, benches and lighting.

MWRA will retain ownership over this property, but Boston College will take over maintenance responsibilities.

Trail construction is expected to begin the week of July 30, 2018 and conclude by the end of October 2018.

Work in the Pine Tree Preserve to install a lighted pedestrian path continues with the removal of dead and dying trees in preparation for grading and paving.  The pathway alignment has been surveyed and trees and brush removed with rough grades now visible.  Additional tree and brush removals will occur over the next week and following that, site work will begin to establish final grades and install the pathway.
