MWRA Water Valve Maintenance May Affect Traffic in Waltham

work location

MWRA will start excavation on June 3 for valve maintenance on the Section 83 water main, near 1111 Lexington Street in Waltham. Work will take place from 8:00AM to 3:00PM Monday through Friday. During work hours, two-way traffic will be maintained along Lexington Street in reduced lanes (map, PDF). When possible, the excavation will be covered with steel plates and lanes will be reopened at the end of the day.

This portion of the Section 83 water main is currently isolated. No water quality or service impacts are expected in Waltham as a result of the maintenance activity. Excavation and valve maintenance is expected to take approximately 3-4 weeks to complete. This work will allow for reactivation of the Section 83 pipeline and improved water supply to Waltham during summer demand.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact MWRA Community Relations Manager, Jeffrey McLaughlin at (617) 305-5762 or jeffrey.mclaughlin@mwra.com, or or MWRA’s 24-hour water phone line at 617-305-5950.
