MWRA Work May Cause Discolored Water Near Tufts Square, Medford

work location

On Monday, November 5, 2018, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority will be performing water valve work along Locust Street at Riverside Avenue in Medford, see map (PDF). This work has been coordinated with the City of Medford and is expected to take 2 weeks to complete. There are no service impacts expected from this portion of the work.

The following Monday, November 12, 2018, MWRA will be taking a portion of a water main out of service and reactivate it later in the week. This portion of the work may cause discolored water in the area Tufts Square.

If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. Please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents may want to wait for the water to clear before using it.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact MWRA Community Coordinator, Jeffrey McLaughlin at (617) 305-5762 or jeffrey.mclaughlin@mwra.com.
