MWRA Water Valve Work May Cause Discolored Water in Melrose, and Parts of Stoneham and Wakefield

The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority will be isolating and replacing water main valves in Stoneham and Melrose. The work is scheduled for Monday, May 21, 2018.

Water Service Impacts: Water service to homes will not be interrupted; however, there is a possibility that the fluctuations in water flow within this service zone may cause discolored water in the parts of Melrose, Stoneham and Wakefield. If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. Please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents may want to wait for the water to clear before using it.

Potentially Affected Areas:

Melrose: All areas

Stoneham: Fellsview, Fellsway East, Phillips, Brooks, Ravine Road, West Wyoming, Orchard, Park Terrace Drive

Wakefield: All areas

Contact: If you have any questions, please contact Jeff McLaughlin, (617) 305-5762 or MWRA’s 24-hour water line at (617) 305-5950.
