MWRA Leak Repair Work May Cause May Affect Traffic and Cause Discolored Water in Revere and Winthrop

Location of leak repair Revere

MWRA will perform leak repairs on a 24-inch water pipeline located on the Revere Beach Parkway (Rte.16) eastbound at Winthrop Street in Revere (map, PDF) on Friday, November 3, 2017.

Work is expected to last three days and requires the closure of the middle travel lane of Rte. 16 eastbound. The work hours are 9:00 a.m - 3:00 p.m.

Water service is expected to remain normal, but discolored water is possible. If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. Please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents may want to wait for the water to clear before using it.

Revere residents: If you have any questions, please contact Jeff McLaughlin, (617) 305-5762 or MWRA’s 24-hour water line at (617) 305-5860.

Winthrop residents: If you have any questions, please contact Len Cawley, (617) 305-5757 or MWRA’s 24-hour water line at (617) 305-5860.
