MWRA to Perform Maintenance Work on Fourth Street, Medford, May Affect Area Parking and Cause Discolored Water in Parts of Medford, Malden, Everett, Chelsea, and Boston

Location of work, Newton

MWRA will be installing a new 48-inch valve on Fourth Street, Medford (map, PDF). The project will begin on Tuesday, November 14, 2016 and will take approximately three weeks to complete. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The project involves the excavation of a 15 x 20-foot area. Area parking may be restricted within the construction zone.

Discolored water is possible in parts of Medford, Malden, Everett, Chelsea, and Boston. If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. Please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used.

For more information, please contact Jeff McLaughlin at 617-305-5762 or or MWRA's 24-hour water line at (617) 305-5950.
