MWRA to Conduct Borings in Dedham

The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority is developing a pipeline to provide a back-up water delivery system to Dedham and Westwood. The design includes a 5.4-mile pipeline from the Bellevue Water Storage Tanks in West Roxbury, through Dedham to Westwood, where it will connect to the existing MWRA water system.

To gather information on subsurface conditions along the proposed route of the new pipe, an MWRA subcontractor will begin a series of borings on Sawmill Lane, Walnut Street, Mt. Vernon Street, Jefferson Street, Rustcraft Road and Allied Drive. The borings may be in the street, or in some cases, in the grassy area between the curb and the sidewalk. Dedham Police details will direct traffic around the boring sites and little impact on neighbors is anticipated. The borings will begin in early August and continue for about four weeks. Work will be conducted weekdays between the hours of 7:00 AM and 3:00PM.

If you have any questions or would like further information, please contact Len Cawley at leonard.cawley@mwra.com or (617) 305 5757.
