The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) and its contractor, P. Gioioso and Sons Inc. of Hyde Park, are installing approximately 10,300 feet of 36-inch water main in University Avenue in Norwood. 

The project impacts University Avenue from Canton Street to Everett Street and Route 1, Providence Highway.  The pipeline will provide another way for Norwood to get water from the MWRA’s system.

As of October 6 2008, all new pipe and valves have been installed. Pressure testing and activation of the remaining portion of the new main and reactivation of existing MWRA main will take place over the next week.  

Final restoration including reinstallation of curbing, final trench paving, and grading and landscaping around off-road structures will take place over the next several weeks along University Avenue and Route 1.

Work is currently scheduled to be completed by November 4, 2008. Like all major construction projects, this date is subject to change.  Check this web site for updated information.
